As business owners, it is easy for us to settle into a single platform regarding our marketing strategy. It is essential to realize that when we start utilizing multiple business platforms, we are changing our business’s trajectory.
Instagram seems to be the end, all be all these days. Because business owners have seen the most success there, it is easy to block out the need for anything else. Here’s the thing though. In the world of owning a business, your time is limited.
In October of 2010, Instagram started as a photo-sharing platform. Businesses and Individuals alike used the app to use their images and graphics to grow a following in the online world. As time passed, marketing strategies helped users become the best they could be.
AND THEN in August of 2020, Instagram introduced reels. Suddenly, the platform turned into the survival of the fittest.
Users spent countless hours contacting Instagram in hopes to enact change. Update after update passed, and it only seemed to be getting worse. With their latest update, Instagram’s head, Adam Mosseri claimed on his IG account that “We want Instagram to be the best place for creators to make a living doing what they love.”
Although this may eventually ring true. Business owners are equally as nervous and as they are upset. It seems that Instagram is the ONLY platform that doesn’t seem to value its user’s thoughts and options.
As we business owners fight for our lives in a game of tug-of-war, there are a few things to be aware of.
The first is to know that using Instagram to market is still important. Ideal clients and customers will ALWAYS use the platform which still makes it prime real estate. The second is that there are multiple business platforms that will still give you a fighting chance if things with Instagram go south.
Cliché? Maybe, but I promise that if you take the time to create a beneficial space for viewers, your business will change for the better. I mean, think about it! Your website is your very own corner of the internet. EVERYTHING on it should reflect your business and its details.

PLEASE, for the LOVE, stop underestimating the power of blogs. Look at it in your own experience. When you search for a topic on the internet, how ofter are the trending results blogs? My guess is your answer would be, “QUITE OFTEN.” Honestly, I would go as far as saying that eight out of ten times!
Blogs went from being something that moms used to document their children’s development to a way to provide all sorts of beneficial resources for pretty much EVERYONE.
When you create blogs for your business, not only are you providing resources for potential clients and customers, but you are giving viewers a look into why THEY NEED YOU in their life.
Email lists are the TRIED AND TRUE way to build the best relationships with your target market.
As a copywriter with a specialty in email marketing, the most common thing I hear is that people are scared of being “annoying.” If that sounds like you, I think we need to have a chat!
If you don’t want to be what you deem “annoying” then only send out a newsletter once a month.
If you don’t want to be what you deem “obnoxious” then don’t try to sell a product/service every time.
Here’s a reminder that you don’t have to compete with huge department stores that survive off of the deals and sales they provide constantly in their daily newsletters. Instead, you have the chance to build a meaningful relationship with those who choose to be a part of your list.
