Prepping your marketing strategies.
TOO often I find that creatives get to the end of their busy season, and they decide that because they have “more time” they don’t need help. First of all, YAY YOU for getting through the busy season in one piece! But it’s time to break some controversy in the online space, do you want to know what really happens? Let’s get into it!
The tea is, they don’t end up getting any of the things done that they planned to because they don’t actually have “more time”. Trust me, I too get fooled by the idea of “having more time” too.
GUILTY AS CHARGED!
In today’s society, we are taught to constantly be busy.
If we aren’t doing one thing then we are doing another.
It seems like we almost find something else to occupy our time to stay busy. So when we enter “SLOW SEASON”, in terms of what you have spent the last few months doing, I promise that you’ll find something to fill that time.
Okay, NOW I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE THINKING… “Mady, I will just fill it with my marketing and strategy stuff”. But, don’t you want to spend that downtime with your families, traveling, or doing the things that you spent the past year pushing to the back burner?
You work so hard for your business year-round!
Creatives don’t get enough credit out there for how much time they put into capturing moments and what seems to be a never-ending editing queue. I understand how overwhelming that can be, so take this moment to catch your breath.
Here is the thing, your off-season should be just that. OFF TIME!
This one is important. You can’t skip taking time for yourself to recharge during your off-season. Get away from the craziness of staring at your desktop screen. Use this time to take a step away from your business to do what makes you happy. Go on that trip you’ve pushed back for months, spend that time with your family, or catch up on your latest Netflix obsession!
For me, I LOVE to dive head first into the newest romance novel I picked up from my local bookstore.
I allow myself the time to recharge outdoors with my family on our hikes. I find by taking the time to recharge I am more productive, more inspired, and more present for my business.
Use this “slow season” to remind yourself why you love what you do (because let’s be honest, by the end of the busy season, you are ready to hang up your hat). After taking time to recharge, you will have distanced yourself a bit from your business to think clearly about it.
ASK YOURSELF:
“WHAT DID I LIKE IN MY BUSINESS THIS YEAR, AND WHAT DIDN’T I LIKE?”
“DO I LIKE WHERE MY BUSINESS IS GOING?”
“WHAT ARE MY GOALS FOR NEXT YEAR?”
Answering these questions will hopefully pump you up for your upcoming year! Get ready to implement those business changes and team up with specialists to achieve your goals.
This is the time to outsource to those who specialize in creating strategies that will set you up for great success in your upcoming year. Let the specialist take a serious look at your business. They are more than happy to figure out any areas of opportunity and implement strategies that will improve them.
Enjoy your off time knowing your social media, website, AND MORE are being handled by a specialist (or a team) that understands your business and you trust. You can really take a step back from your business fully knowing it is in good hands!
